I found this kata diagram of what seems to be a variation of Heian Shodan. If anyone can read German, or knows what this is, please comment and let me know, I’m very curious.

Tournament
Went to the tournament today. The S.K.I. team did very well and brought home nine medals. I did not place in kata, and was disqualified in kumite for knocking my opponent out with a mawashi-geri. I had never knocked a person out before, and honestly I was ashamed at myself for lack of control. However, it happened very naturally and it was an odd experience to say the least.

Kakuyoku Nidan kata, by the late Sensei Tetsuhiko Asai.
Sensei Asai spent a fair amount of time in Taiwan studying White Crane Kung Fu, and from his studies he synthesized/”Shotokanized” many of his own katas. This kata was apparently one of his favorites.
Hanshi taught us this kata a few months ago, along with Kakuyoku Shodan. The movements in these katas have interesting characteristics not normally found in other Shotokan kata.
More info about Asai Sensei and his katas here:
